DIRECTIGEN KIT by BD
The BD Directigen kits utilize a latex slide agglutination technique for the direct qualitative detection of
antigens to H. influenzae type b, S. pneumoniae, Group B
Streptococcus, and N. meningitidis groups A, C, Y and W135 in
cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), serum, urine, or blood culture media. The BD Directigen kit also
provides confirmation and serogrouping from suspected
colonies of H. influenzae type b, S. pneumoniae, Group B
Streptococcus, and N. meningitidis groups A, C, Y, and W135. The
BD Directigen combo test kit includes tests for H. influenzae, S.
pneumoniae, and N. meningitidis as well as tests for Group B
Streptococcus, N. meningitidis Group B, and E. coli K1.
Visible agglutination occurs when any of these bacterial antigens is reacted with its respective
antibody-coated latex beads.
